Artist Statement
My work captures the life and vibrancy of nature through felted sculpture and mixed media. Sustainability and environmental conscientiousness are paramount to my practice. Thus, I create felted creatures from wool, a natural animal fiber that can be harvested and used sustainably without damage to the earth. Through materiality and subject matter, I strive to inspire respect and admiration for the natural world in which we live. The pieces in this exhibition cascade through the hallway, bringing life and movement into an otherwise sterile, indoor environment. Mystical fairy creatures are mixed into the scene. Their essence also encapsulates nature and inspires us to reflect on our human connection to the natural world. This whimsical display seeks to draw us closer to nature and regain the childlike intrigue and wonder of our home.
This exhibition is located at Blue Hills Reservation Trailside Museum. More information regarding the location can be found here.
